The Pug is one of the oldest recorded dog breeds, some say dating as far back as 700 B.C.! It is believed that the breed originated in Asia, probably because of the similarities between the Pug and the Pekingese. Prince William II, King of England owned Pugs which immediately increased the breeds popularity. The Pug’s sole and primary purpose is as a companion dog, and since that’s what they enjoy most, it works out great! Pugs are extremely friendly, cocky, confident, sensitive, sturdy, and relish playtime making them a great family dog. Their coat comes in two colors, fawn and black, and is short and easy to maintain, this is probably why this breed is so popular with people with pet allergies. The AKC recognized the Pug, in the Toy Group in 1885. The average weight for the Pug is between 14 to 18 pounds. Each dog figurine is a detailed, hand-painted miniature statue. Each one was designed to represent a specific breed with an outstanding level of detail and quality.
