No one knows from the short term if effective. I bought this over a year ago for a large tree with a vertical split in the bark. It sealed it but this year, as the bark grew, the treated tar hardened area split. It does not stretch as the tree bark grows wider in diameter. Fail. I just bought this again this year for a smaller wound to a smaller tree. I won’t know for a year whether it works since even dying trees get typically get new growth for a few years.
