One of the most loved species of cultivated Bonsai, the Pomegranate has a rich historical and mythical lore. The leaves are opposite or sub-opposite, glossy, and narrow oblong. The Pomegranate flowers are bright red. The Socotran Pomegranate has pink (not red) flowers. Pomegranates are drought tolerant. If too wet, root decay results from fungal infestation. The Pomegranate is tolerant of moderate frost, down to about 14ยบ F. The name Punica is from the Phoenicians who were active in broadening its cultivation, partly for religious reasons. Comes with Humidity tray and decorative rocks to counteract the effects of indoor dryness and outdoor windiness. Excess water collects in the tray and slowly evaporates; increasing the humidity around the tree and improving the growing environment. Your bonsai tree thrives while windowsills stay dry and debris-free. A tray can also be used outdoors to improve conditions in dry or windy sites. Each live plant is shipped with the Phytosanitary Certificate as required by the USDA.

Minor damage to some of the taller apex branches from the new spring growth but I have already trimmed those. Given my understanding of how UPS handles products I am impressed with the packing and lack of damage. Some of the newly budded leaves have begun to curl slightly but that is likely because of the travel it had to endure while packaged and then climatizing to the sunlight here as I understand it just came from a green house.
